Frequently asked customer flooring questions
1. Are the fitters your fitters or are they sub-contracted?
Answer: All our fitters are self employed. Liam fits most of our flooring but occasionally we may need help or if we can’t fit you in we would get another fitter who is free so we can complete your job on time.
2. Is this in stock, how long will I have to wait?
Answer: We will check stock and if it is available you are looking at 3-7 days for us to receive the flooring. We will contact you once we have the logistics of your order and schedule the install once goods are in and checked.
3. Will my dog tear this carpet up?
Answer: A dog will destroy anything it wants to, we do not know your dog as well as you do so you will be the better judge. Hard surface might be a better option if that is a concern. We are dog people and ours have eaten carpet and destroyed laminate flooring. You have to choose depending what your priorities are.
4. How will this wear on stairs or in high traffic?
Answer: Any carpet that is properly cared for should last as long as expected. Some carpets require more care, like vacuuming and cleaning, more often than others.
5. Will this show footprint and vacuum marks?
Answer: All carpets, except for some loops, will show footprints and vacuum marks, to varying degrees. Some may show less than others and even colors will determine how well you see or don't see them.
6. Do you have remnants?
Answer: No, not normally. Please check though as occasionally we have an off cut or we do know places you can go to get them.
7. Is there a charge for you to come out and measure?
Answer: We never charge for measuring, as that is the only way we can properly give you an accurate price on your project.
8. What carpet will hide soil and stains?
Answer: Multi-color carpets are usually the best here. Twists, Heathers, Berber colors or tweeds can disguise soiling and even some small stains.
9. What should I clean my carpet with?
Answer: That depends on the type of stain and the type of fiber. There are guides available that can help you figure out which direction to go. Soap is usually not the answer. Take a look at our blog for our care and maintenance by Cormar.
10. What are your hours?
Answer: Monday - Friday 9am-7pm
Saturday 10am-1pm, Sunday-Closed.
11. Do you install on Saturday?
Answer: Yes. See above for hours
12. What does the wear warranty cover?
Answer: Each manufacturer has a different warranty available with each different range. We will ask for specific information of your carpet should you require it.
13. What if my carpet is stained? What do I do?
Answer: If you cannot get rid of a stain and have tried cleaning it yourself, then hire one. Most professional cleaners can get stained carpet clean and if not they would be able to recommend the next step.
We recommend Busybee cleaning services.
14. Do you move furniture, take-up, and dispose of old material?
Answer: Yes. We do uplift and disposal of old flooring but we pay commercial wastes fees and these will be past onto the yourselves as a cost in your quote.
To save money you can dispose of yourselves at the waste recycle depot in your area.
We don’t move furniture. Rooms must be clear ready to work unless prior arrangements has been made with us.
If there is non-standard furniture such as pool tables, exercise equipment, large aquariums or pianos/organs you would be responsible for booking the correct parties to move those items.
For example pool tables or snooker tables need special care and levelling, we are not equipped in this field.
15. I have squeaks, will the fitter fix those?
Answer: The fitter is not a carpenter. We cannot guarantee to fix any squeaks, but usually happy to take a quick look whilst laying the floor and advise.
16. Can you double the underlay?
Answer: No, you shouldn't.
17. What is the average price of carpet?
Answer: Carpets range upwards from £8sqm. The average spend is £15-£20sqm. This price point will usually get you something good and durable. You can spend less and achieve the same with a thicker underlay but the carpet won’t be as luxurious to touch.
18. Should I upgrade the underlay?
Answer: Not always, sometime we can reuse the old underlay and gripper if in good condition.
19. Do you have samples?
Answer: Yes, we will bring them to your home and help you choose or leave them with you for a longer period so you can make the correct choice. A new quality carpet lasts and obviously costs money so you should take your time to get it right.
